TSL's engineering area develops and applies technologies to separate oil, solids and water in industrial streams, from the oil and gas industry to refineries, petrochemical plants and terminals. The work runs from system sizing to equipment in operation, with the goal of bringing water within the standards for discharge, reuse or reinjection.

TSL has more than 40 years of experience, an office in São Paulo, an operational base in Macaé (RJ) and a management system certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Water and effluent treatment
Produced water treatment
As fields mature, the volume of water returning with hydrocarbons, salts and solids grows. TSL applies compact flotation, DGF and IGF flotation units and polishing systems to enable safe discharge or reinjection, in line with standards such as CONAMA 393/07.
Industrial effluent treatment
Solutions to treat the effluents generated in production processes and bring them within discharge or reuse standards, with the separation technology sized for each stream.
Oily effluent treatment
Physical and physicochemical separation technologies for streams with a variable pollutant load. The flotation solutions are sized to reach OGC (oil and grease content) below 20 ppm.
Oily water treatment
The technology is chosen according to the state of the hydrocarbon: free, dispersed, emulsified or dissolved oil. Each droplet size range calls for a different method, from gravity separation to polishing.
Treatment units: sale, rental and operation
Automated steel flotation units in the horizontal Veirsep-Plus model, for flow rates up to 1,650 m³/h, and the vertical Cyclosep model, for up to 166 m³/h. The vertical model has a wave absorption system for operation on FPSO type vessels.
Flotation systems
Industrial flotation systems
Gas microbubbles attach to oil, grease and suspended solids and speed up their rise to the surface, where they are removed continuously. TSL sizes, supplies and maintains DGF, IGF and CFU systems according to the flow rate and the fluid.
Dissolved air flotation (DAF)
Removes oil, grease and suspended solids from industrial effluents and oily water in sectors such as oil and gas, refining, mining and pulp and paper. Available for sale and rental.
Dissolved gas flotation (DGF)
The fluid is pressurized to dissolve the gas, which is later released as micrometer scale microbubbles. It is suited to fine particles and emulsified oil in refineries, terminals and platforms.
Compact Flotation Unit (CFU)
A compact unit with a short residence time, designed for FPSOs and platforms with space constraints. It reduces installed weight by up to 80% compared with conventional systems.
DGF pump
A pump with hydraulics engineered for two-phase mixtures, which dissolves air or gas into the liquid and generates the microbubbles of the flotation system. TSL handles sizing and supply.
Offshore projects and installation
Offshore decommissioning
Preparation and cleaning of systems for platform shutdown: industrial cleaning, inerting, fluid draining, decontamination and waste removal, in compliance with ANP (Brazilian oil and gas regulator) and IBAMA (federal environmental agency) requirements.
Electromechanical installation
Prefabrication and installation of piping and steel structures, opening and closing of equipment, pressure testing, controlled torquing and tensioning, thermal insulation, painting and access structures.
Frequently asked questions
What does TSL's engineering area do?
It designs, supplies and operates treatment systems for produced water, oily water and effluents, using flotation technologies such as DAF, DGF and CFU. It also handles system preparation and cleaning for offshore decommissioning and electromechanical installation services.
What is the difference between DAF, DGF and CFU?
In DAF, microbubbles of dissolved air or gas carry oil and solids to the surface. In DGF, the fluid is pressurized to dissolve the gas, which is later released as microbubbles, favoring the removal of fine particles and emulsified oil. The CFU is a compact unit with a short residence time, suited to FPSOs and platforms with limited space.
Does TSL sell or rent produced water treatment units?
Both. TSL sells, rents and operates produced water treatment units, with automated horizontal and vertical flotation units, for onshore and offshore applications.
